Water Replenishment District (WRD)
Dakota Communications served as the lead public outreach consultant tasked with managing the public outreach program for GRIP. Dakota assisted WRD staff in the overall management and execution of public outreach activities related to the GRIP effort. A key task and challenge was to ensure that the public understands the objectives of GRIP by taking a fairly complicated and technical program and communicating the overall scope of the program effectively.
During this time, Dakota developed a strategic outreach and marketing plan that identified and targeted key stakeholders and communities in various portions of the district to ensure that the targeted groups were fully informed about GRIP; assisted in design and breadth of the survey instrument aimed at collecting polling data for empirical analysis of public opinion about GRIP; consulted with the GRIP technical consultants and WRD staff on the overall planning and implementation of project phases; managed the team of GRIP public outreach consultants, including stakeholder engagement consultants, media consultants, web/web broadcasting consultant, survey/polling consultants, and any other outreach consultant selected by WRD; designed and produced education materials that informed the public about the environmental facts and benefits of GRIP; oversaw the design and development of the GRIP website; developed a comprehensive contact database that included target audiences and key stakeholders; and attended GRIP Ad Hoc Committee meetings and WRD Board Meetings and provide regular updates to the Committee and/or Board as requested.
